Nkusu Theo Sugar Limited
is an agricultural and agri-processing company established in Mbeya – Tanzania. It started its operations in land management for sugarcane, and by next year will begin sugar mills in three Districts. The next phase will be expansion of our operations in the remaining five Districts of Mbeya Region which will include sugarcane development, sugar mills, sweetener, ethanol production and energy (power generation).
This will bridge the gap of sugar supply in the Tanzania market, stabilizing the price, create employment, move the country from net importer to net exporter, supporting the implementation of the government ambitious KILIMO KWANZA (Agriculture First) Initiative and Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor Of Tanzania (SAGCOT) program. Also the Government MOTTO which is MATOKEO MAKUBWA SASA (Big Results Now).
There has been a rise in using sugarcane in producing ethanol as an effective carbon dioxide mitigation strategy and as an alternative to crude oil based fuels. Since the tremendous increase in quantities of sugarcane in the global sugar industries are directed at producing ethanol as an effective carbon dioxide mitigation strategy and an alternative to crude oil based fuels. The fiber in sugarcane is also increasing being used for renewable electricity generation, providing additional revenue streams for producers in developed
countries. The sugar demand globally continues to grow at an average of 2 percent yearly, which is equal to 3.2 million tons of sugar. Formerly, the growing demand for sugar globally had been filled by Brazil, Currently this position has changed, creating opportunities to other regions like Sub-Saharan Africa, which has large arable land and is
using less than 8 percent of its available fresh water; therefore, these regions are well positioned to benefit from these developments.
